Settlement Overview

The last human network.

The Settlement is the remaining interconnected human civilization following the collapse of the old world.

Its major dynasties retain their sovereignty.

They are bound together less by political unity than by necessity, infrastructure, trade and a fragile non-aggression framework.

Sol remains the institutional center and neutral reference point.

The political system is stable enough to function, but fragile enough for regional conflicts to remain possible.

Institutional Center // Neutral

Sol
The Eternal Center

Keeper of Balance

Sol acts as the neutral institutional center of the Settlement.

It does not rule the dynasties.

It provides continuity, administration, arbitration and a place where rival powers can still communicate.

“Sol does not rule the dynasties.
It gives them a place where they can still speak to one another.”

Restricted Region // Archive Partial

Aracea

Quarantined Region

Former part of the Settlement political structure.

Ideologically absolutist.
Technologically unrestricted.
Politically isolated.
Under quarantine.

Aracea rejected the Settlement administrative order and no longer recognizes the traditional Primus structure.

Civilization Infrastructure

The Ascension Network

Standard Ascension Gates create fixed Corridor Field routes between planets. Ships remain physical, pilot-controlled vessels and cross the full distance under their own propulsion.

Rare Deep Relay Gates extend the network between neighbouring systems. Thirteen surviving jump-ships alone retain true multi-light-year capability.

Trade, migration, military deployment and political cohesion all depend upon this recovered infrastructure.

Without the network,
there is no Settlement.

Shared Military Institution

Helika Defence Force

The HDF is the Settlement’s oldest surviving military institution: one force in name, tradition and professional framework, but no longer one centralized army in practice.

Its formations are operated through local systems and dynasties, whose priorities increasingly shape command, procurement and loyalty. Forces carrying the same HDF identity can therefore serve opposing regional interests.

Sol’s HDF Central Command preserves common doctrine, ranks and standards, while the Hochkuratur coordinates civilian oversight without commanding troops. Neither institution stands above the dynasties as a Settlement government.

Economic Network

Connected by necessity.

Economic interdependence is one of the forces preventing complete political fragmentation.

The dynasties possess different industrial and technological strengths, creating dependencies even between political rivals.
