Tactical Notes

The truck for cargo that isn't measured in tons but in consequences. Classified equipment, sensitive intel, high-value personnel, prisoners worth interrogating rather than shooting — anything where losing the cargo is a strategic or diplomatic problem, not just a supply problem. The CVT-20 doesn't move volume. It moves things that can't be replaced by requisitioning another truck.

Engineering Assessment

Field Notes

The Weight Correction.

20 t curb weight — Marcel's original placeholder — doesn't survive contact with the spec. An armored monocoque with front-biased Tier-III protection, blast-mitigation underbody, a remotely operated weapon station and a fully enclosed protected cargo cell is a different construction category than an open logistics truck. The production record therefore lists 29 t empty and 41 t at gross vehicle weight.

Why an RWS, Not a Pintle Mount.

Every other optional weapon in this fleet is an exposed pintle or roof mount — someone stands up and gets shot at to use it. The CVT-20's RWS is remotely operated from inside the protected cell, consistent with its entire purpose: nobody assigned to guard irreplaceable cargo should have to leave cover to do it. This is the first (and only) vehicle in the fleet where the defensive weapon is standard equipment rather than an optional fitting.

Faster Than Its Weight Class Suggests.

At 41 t loaded, the CVT-20 sits between the SLV-20 and HVH-40 by mass, but the tactically-tuned Ignol-3T and lighter overall mission profile (no crane, no bulk deck) let it move closer to SLV-20 speeds despite the added armor. This is a deliberate trade-off, not an error — the vehicle exists to move quickly with something that matters, not to sit in a convoy.

Why Kaerweld, Not Kelvros or Valessan.

Same logic as the HVH-40: Kaerweld's “no elegance, no apology” conservative armor doctrine is the natural fit for anything that needs to survive contact by design rather than by luck. Assigning this to Valessan (cheap, expendable-adjacent) or Kelvros (technically refined but not armor-first) wouldn't fit either company's established character.
